CAROLYN YOUNG BIO
Art has always been a major part of my life, from private lessons in grade school to classes in the senior facility where I now live. When I was in middle school I won a Nebraska state prize for a watercolor and didn’t work in watercolor again for over 70 years. Meanwhile, I majored in fine arts at San Jose State, was a Realtor, and worked for an outdoor advertising company, locating places for and permitting billboards--but not painting them.
When I moved to Walnut Creek in 2002, I took advantage of the city’s wonderful art programs, where I re-studied watercolor and ceramics. I joined CA Watercolor Association and the Ceramic Arts Guild. As a member of the Concord Art Association board of directors, I served as Chairman of the Rotating Art Gallery where we furnished monthly displays for businesses offices and hospitals. Now, thanks to Altenheim’s art program, I’m continuing to learn ways to apply new creative processes.
