IMPERFECT PEARS.
I really enjoyed painting imperfect pears, with unexpected bumps or uneven blotches of red or green, or slightly irregular contours. It made me think that when we standardize our fruit and vegetables so they all look and taste the same, we often lose the excitement of unpredictability and instead, we settle for the numbing comfort of the known.
These pears are allowed to be imperfect, and therein lies their beauty.
